Gold In The Shade brings a heady musical Molotov of funk, soul, jazz, hip hop, and Latin and loosens up the dance floor. Reflecting the underlying ethos’ it’s all about having a good time!’., a combination of a bit of graft, quality local talent and word of mouth has established the night with an enduring reputation. Gold in the shade takes place the first Friday of every month downstairs in the distinctive surroundings of The Magnet.

"Fire in the disco, blood on the dancefloor, This is my disco!!..." Downstairs Disco was born out of the desire to find a groove that quite bluntly, aint happening round these parts of late, somewhere where we throw a damn good party whenever the mood takes us!

We don't have a regular slot, no one's gonna give us one and frankly, we don't fuckin' want one!

Downstairs Disco aims to capture and recreate the vibes of old. Specialising in an up-tempo style of dance music that originated in the early 1970s, from funk to soul music, which is ever popular with audiences in larger cities all over the world.

Disco derives its name from the French word discothèque (meaning a nightclub where the featured entertainment was recorded music)
